Rajah Matanda

Rajah Ache of Maynila, better known by his title Rajah Matanda, (1480–1572) was a 16th-century king of the Kingdom of Maynila, a Tagalog kingdom on the region of the Pasig River in the Philippines. He is also sometimes referred to as ''Rajah Laya'',〔 a name derived from ''Ladyang Matanda'' - an alternate pronunciation of his title.
Together with Rajah Sulayman and Lakan Dula, he was one of three kings in Manila, who fought the Spaniards during the colonization of the Philippines.〔
== Etymology ==
''"Rajah Matandâ"'' means ''"old king"'' in Tagalog, while the Spaniards called him ''"Rajah Ache el Viejo" (King Ache the Old)''.
